Chatters Restaurant (Midland)

I've been told that Chatters has very nice asian food. So I had to try it for myself to believe.

Went to the Midland branch on 14Nov during lunch time and tried their lunch menu. I had ordered Pad Thai because it seems to be a difficult dish to master (in Australia) and Craig ordered honey chicken with rice.

Craig seems to enjoy his honey chicken. They are crispy and....what else can you say about honey chicken.

I don't enjoy my pad thai at all. It's rather oily and bland. There isn't much ingredients in the stir fry and it is really not the authentic pad thai you will get in good old Thailand. Never knew there's lemon added in pad thai as well (perhapes it is something I had missed out while in Thailand). As you can see in the picture below, there are spring onions, chickens and crushed peanuts and yep, that's about it.

The above 2 dishes cost $10 each but for $10, I will be able to order something cheaper and tastier somewhere else.

Contential - Italian Sun Dried Tomato and Basil Flavoured Rice

I had tried the Mushroom Risotto before and I did not cook it very well. This time round, I have bought the sundried tomato and basil rice to give it a try. I have added more water than specified and cook it in the microwave for a shorter period (9minsutes) because it is a 1100W microwave. I had gave the dish a quick stirred during the 5th minute and 7th minute. The rice came out nice and moist, not under nor over cook.

However, the taste is terrible. It is definately not as good as the mushroom risotto flavour. I didn't finish the meal because it taste too bland.

MYO- Make Your Own

I have decided to give MYO (at Irwin Chamber) a try today since I was told by serveral people it was fantastic. Personally I find it rather expensive for the food it sell.

I had picked a regular size pumkin soup($4.50) and a pizza with tomato sauce based, salami, mushrooms and cheese(regular size $7.90). You have to wait about 7-8 minutes to cook the pizza and while waiting, I was observing what everyone else had ordered, most people go for the rolls or breads with they have quite decent size fillings.

Overall, i think the pizza is great, mainly because I select what I want to eat. The pumkin soup taste rather like can soup or powdered soup. I will go there again because I am given the wide choice of variety but definately not for the prices. You can go to a deli and get the same for a cheaper rate for sure.

Aroma Cafe

There are many Aroma Café in WA and the one I went to is located in Carillon City basement food court.

I had ordered the toasted Parma sandwich, which is just ham and cheese and nothing else. It was very ordinary and it cost $7 for it.

The hot chocolate is very dull as well, it doesn't has the rich creamy chocolate flavour. A small cup cost $3.80.

Avaliable in the Perth Entertainment Book (09-10)

Armada Restaurant and Bar

417 Hay Street
61-8-9238 1834

Armada Restaurant is located in the Travelodge Perth. It has a nice ambience and located in a good location, with the Red CAT bus services right outside its door. We were there for lunch around 12.30pm and there isn't any crowd at all.

I had the Seafood Nasi Goreng at $23. If you are after the traditional Malay Nasi Goreng, you can forget about ordering this meal here because it is nothing like the traditional fried rice. There are prawns, squids, scallops and tiny pieces of fish. There are also capsicums(red, yellow), red onions, and lettuces top with bean sprouts. Overall, this dish is very disappointing as I was expecting more from a hotel's standard. The rice is rather hard, seems like a case of too little water when cooking. The prawns are not deveined which is a huge disappointment and disgust to be honest. I wasn't a fan of having capsicums in my rice as well.

Craig ordered a steak sandwich, which comes with fries and salad on the side. His steak is too tough as he is struggling to tear the meat off. The chips are great; in fact, they are the best food on our table.

Hilton Parmelia Globe Restaurant

Mill Street, Perth
61-8-9215 2421

The Globe Restaurant deserves my praise. We had an event to attend at 7pm and only arrive at the restaurant at 6.10pm. We asked if we can have a quick dinner and Chè, the restaurant manager who attended to us then, informed us it will be better to have some light snacks from the bar but he believed the chefs will make it happen for us if they know we are in a hurry. We did not make a wrong decision to dine in the restaurant.

Lianne was our food waitress and she was attentive and well informed that we are tight on time. We had quickly placed our order and the food took about 20mins to arrive, which leaves us enough time to enjoy (quickly) the absolute delicious food. We were served with this bread roll which is one of the best I had ever tasted. In fact, I could eat it just for dinner!

I ordered the Barramundi, which comes with pea risotto and salsa. It has a layer of black bean on the pan fried skin. Not a big fan of black bean. The risotto was well cooked.

Craig ordered the South West Chicken Breast stuffed with basil cream. He said it was alright.

Unfortunately because we had to rush off, I didn't take any pictures but be assured, I'll be back for more.

Adelphi Steak House & Bar

Parmelia Hilton Perth
Mill Street, Perth

Entertainment Perth book offers a one for one voucher, so we decided to give it a go. I have ordered the Seafood delight, which comes with side rice and bread. The seafood consist of squids, prawns, scallops and fish cooked in a mid spicy coconut based sauce. The presentation is great as it has the seafood placed in edible base. $35.00

Craig ordered a Fillet Mignon for $39.00 and he loves it. All mains comes with free salad at the salad bar with great variety. In fact, I could just dine at the salad bar!!

Overall, we had a great meal and the service was good.

Chi Resturant

Shop 109, 166 Murray Street, Perth (Above Woolies)
08-9225-7488

One of my favourite dishes is Hor Fun(wet) and I have been to Chi a couple of times but never tried their hor fun. I decided to go for the Chicken Hor Fun costing $11. As usual, it is a massive dish and I can't wait to dig in when it arrives on my table.

The sauce is not as thick as I would prefer it to be. There isn't much egg on the sauce as well. The hor fun(noodles) are not stir fried with dark soya sauce(more likely light soya sauce I believe). and yes, plently of chicken since it is a Chicken dish.Corns and snow peas add a great touch and taste to the dish.

The green chilli was rather different from what I will usually have. It is dry chopped green chilli.

The service was fast since I was there at 12pm, if you were to order after 12.15pm, the crowd starts picking up and you might have to wait more than 15mins. So do head there earlier if you are tight for time.
